We're about five hours away from the kick-off to our 2013/14 season and the excitement in the air is astounding. The new season of Breaking Bad is nothing compared to the anticipation surrounding City fans going into this new era, the Pellegrini era. When the Civil Engineering graduate from Pontifical Catholic University in Santiago made his first appearance as City manager in June, the sun was shining bright. It was destined to be a great interview. We all had high hopes. Nevertheless, I paid full attention to the interview he was giving on the official website, eager to know if the man spoke any English at all. Having spent a chunk of his managerial career in South America and Spain, I had concerns over the man's ability to hold a conversation with James Milner. A few sentences into the interview, however, I breathed a sight of relief, and was immensely pleased to learn that the man speaks perfect English. Better than the interviewer, in fact. If he cared enough to master the language, he cared enough. I'm a firm believer that communication is key in all aspects of life. And football is somewhere up there in life. As City grows globally and the dressing room turns into a melting pot of cultures, it becomes imperative for the leader of the pack to be able to communicate in more languages than Carlos Tevez. Over time, my admiration of Manuel Pellegrini grew, by the way he conducted the media, and the way he spoke to the players. And it was easy to also see how he had won the hearts of most who have played under him. The man has an air of calmness about him. And a personality that exudes composure, and likeability. It's a refreshing change, if you will, by the way the team played during the recent international tour. While it's probably too early to tell how his signings would fare in the Premier League, I thought they have shown glimpses of brilliance in the few playes that we've seen. Not to mention his team's ability to conduct business without conducting tussles in the scale of Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Cesc Fabregas or Lindsay Lohan. It's nice to have a cool character at the helm. It's always the manager who provides the public, and the media, with a portrayal of what the club believes in. And I think I can live with this guy being the face of our club. And it is on him also, that we entrust our aspiration to bring the title back to Manchester.
